Built by English Electric in 1956 and shipped new to Holland for use by Dutch State Railways (Nederlandse Spoorwegen). Very similar in design, external and internal, to the BR Class 11. One of the few shunters of this type to be constructed at the Vulcan Foundry at Newton-le-Willows, although the design and components originated at the Dick Kerr works near Preston. |

NOTES
Cosmetically restored into the dark green livery originally applied by EE prior to shipment to the Netherlands. Shipped from Holland to Immingham Docks aboard the MV Torr Minerva on December 18th 2004, then moved by road to the Ribble Steam Railway (see photo). The loco was started up for the first time at its new home on February 12th 2005 and the engine appears to be sound. Following some re-plumbing of the radio control & air brake equipment, the shunter was driven conventionally for the first time on April 2nd 2005. Will be given its' original NS625 number still as it is no longer an radio controlled loco. The current green livery, originally worn in Holland, will be retained.
Reportedly left the RSR by 9/05, believed to have moved to RMS Locotec, Dewsbury and was present there on 6th and 25th September 2005. Soon after it moved to PD Ports, Teesport where it was observed on 11th November 2005. Believed to still be at Teesport. |
